Our Staff
SOEC employs over 80 people across Scotland, most of whom are tutors working directly with our customers on a range of activities, training programmes and off-site expeditions.
Our current tutors come from all around the world. Some have education and environmental backgrounds, whilst others have a grounding in the outdoor activities sector.
One of the attractions for tutor staff who work at Scottish Outdoor Education Centres is that a high priority is placed on training and development. Emphasis is placed on training. All staff receive training in First Aid; activities; the environment, as well as facilitation skills, which are such a vital part of delivering the SOEC experience. Where a national governing body award exists for an activity, our staff must hold this qualification as a minimum.
In addition all our staff are fully aware of child protection issues and have undergone an enhanced disclosure check or overseas equivalent. New staff are registered with Disclosure Scotland on the PVG scheme.
