Tijssen, Belmont Lead Tutor

Qualifications: Post-Graduate Diploma in Outdoor Education; First Aid + CPR Certificate; Undergraduate Diploma in Social Cultural Work.

Tijssen started as a tutor at SOEC in 2009 after coming over from The Netherlands. Tijssen started working in the outdoors in 2004. He worked as an outdoor instructor in The Netherlands and worked a couple of seasons in the United States as a trip leader, at a summer camp, and as an outdoor educator. Tijssen moved to Scotland to pursue his passion in teaching young people about the outdoors and the environment. During his time at SOEC, Tijssen followed a part-time post-graduate course in outdoor education at the University of Edinburgh.

Tijssen’s passion for the outdoors started from a young age. With his family he cycled around many different countries in Europe also he has been part of the Scouts in The Netherlands for over 10 years.

During his free time Tijssen likes to mountain bike and hill walk with his friends.
